The New Colossus Festival Returns to NYC for its Second Year
NYC is often recognized as a significant epicenter for art, especially music. Two weeks ago, from March 11-13, The New Colossus Festival took place in the Lower East Side for the second year (it was originally scheduled for March 11-15, but was cut short due to the current health situation). Organized and run by Kanine Records, Kepler Events, and Lorimer Beacon (in collaboration with partners), the festival welcomed a handful of artists who traveled from just within the city to across oceans and miles away, including Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Sweden. The festival also brought together managers, photographers, writers, PR, and other individuals in the music industry.
Not only did artists perform for a bit at a showcase, they were given the opportunity to share their sound at multiple venues, such as Pianos, MOSCOT, and Arlene’s Grocery. Those with a badge could also attend various conference sessions focused on topics like touring and the history of music in NYC. Without a doubt, the festival garnered memorable feedback from people who were all connected simply through music.
